The dril-bu bell symbolises steadfast watchfulness. In Tantric ceremonies it is used as a basic musical instrument. Together with a vajra (representing compassion, a male principle), it is the main attribute of Lamaistic (Vajrayana) deities. The bell represents wisdom, a female principle.
